Planning a Business Trip to Bozeman

Bozeman is making a name for itself when it comes to business meetings. Amidst the travel trend which combines business and leisure trips (sometimes affectionately known as “bleisure travel”), Bozeman brings its best. Easy access, walkable amenities, and a vast playground to enjoy as teambuilding experiences or to explore on your own.

The Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport offers 20 non-stop flights from major cities across the U.S. — and for those who plan to drive, Bozeman is right on the I-90 corridor. Bozeman sits approximately an hour and a half from two of the entrances to Yellowstone National Park, is home to Bridger Bowl Ski Area and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, and is an hour from Big Sky.

Day 1
Arrive in Bozeman

Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is just 15 minutes from downtown Bozeman. Most hotels offer a shuttle for your group, but rental cars are available at the airport, along with ride share options.

If you need any last-minute printing, Executive Services offers excellent service and online ordering. And if you need office supplies, Staples is easily accessible off West Main Street. If your meeting requires large format displays, Color World is a trusted option.

Once you’ve settled into your hotel, we suggest starting with a little exploring downtown. For those who enjoy cocktails, Bozeman Spirits Distillery is right downtown. This locally owned distillery harvests barley from its own farm and sources other grains from Montana Milling. The tasting room creates fabulous cocktails and offers tours of the distillery!

For dinner, Ted’s Montana Grill is right next door. They can accommodate larger groups, and the menu is robust. If you’re visiting in the warmer months, they offer outside dining on their back patio.

Day 2
Meeting Day One

While many hotels offer a complimentary breakfast, it’s sometimes nice to start the day outside the hotel. Main Street Overeasy is a local favorite, and the iconic Western Cafe is always a popular option. (Breakfast is popular in Bozeman, so be sure to allow a bit of extra time in case of a wait.)

Bozeman Market and Deli is great for catering boxed lunches. Their East Coast-style sandwiches are delicious, featuring fantastic combinations that you don’t commonly see.

After a full day of meetings, head to Drinking Horse Trail, located right out of town on Bridger Canyon Drive. It’s roughly an hour-long hike, not too steep, with great views of Gallatin Valley and Bridger Canyon.

Following your jaunt, enjoy networking over a craft beer or seltzer at Mountains Walking Brewery. The taproom features both community tables for large groups and booths for more private conversations, and the beer is delicious! Their casual menu features group noshes, pizza, sandwiches, and salads that are all top-notch.

If you’re looking for a private space for celebratory dinners or hosted happy hours with clients, Carlisle, located in the Element and the Kimpton Armory Hotel both offer lovely spaces and menu options.

Day 3
Meeting Day Two

Likely, the team will want to hit the ground running, and Bozeman has several delicious bakeries. Aurore, a French bakery, creates fantastic pastries, both savory and sweet, and their location in the Baxter Hotel, downtown Bozeman, is easily accessible.

For lunch, Just a Taste Catering has a delicious variety of sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads.

Be sure to build in some time for exploring the shops downtown. Bozeman boasts a diverse array of boutiques, art galleries, sporting goods stores, bookstores, jewelers and specialty shops. It’s the kind of downtown where you discover new gems in every nook and cranny.

Check the schedule for Last Best Comedy, our local comedy club with weekly shows and great headliners. For dinner, Open Range has a nice open format, perfect for large groups. The menu features a modern steakhouse with dry-aged beef, accompanied by excellent starters, soups, and salads, as well as seafood and chicken options for those who prefer not to eat beef.

Day 4
Team-building in the Outdoors

A good retreat should definitely include some team-building fun, and no matter the season, Bozeman has you covered.

Your options will depend on the season you visit:

  • During the summer months, Montana Whitewater offers rafting trips on both the Gallatin and Yellowstone rivers, plus zip-lining, and shuttles if you prefer to float the Madison River in tubes.

  • Jake’s Horses is a long-time outfitter in the valley and can take riders of any ability on trail rides that can be as long or short as you prefer. They’ll offer instruction and careful supervision on trusted horses — you’ll be in good hands!

  • During the winter months, Bridger Bowl Ski Area is just 16 miles from downtown Bozeman, and just past the ski area, Crosscut Mountain Sports Center is great for Nordic ski lovers. For those new to the sports, both areas offer lessons and rentals.

End the day at Bozeman Hot Springs, with twelve pools, a cold plunge, steam room, dry sauna, and, if you time it right, live entertainment while you soak.

The Market, located just off Huffine Lane, offers a variety of restaurants to choose from for dinner — from casual burgers and sushi to Tex-Mex, fine dining, and family-friendly options, there’s something for every dining preference.
